While he is in the temple of the wind he stay completely alone but the spirits and he have a lot of time to think about what he did to hi third wife Kahlan 'cause without letting her the time to explain why she did such a thing he leave the life's world to take up the spirit's world. When he finally come back to Aydindril he says to Kahlan that he covered all that journey only to ask her forgiveness (he was almost death but he want her forgiveness to die happy) What do you think about it??
" I'm the one of the prophecies. I AM Fuer Grissa OSt Drauka. I'm the true Seeker of Truth because I'm the only one who could make the blade become white. I'm Lord Rahl and I'm searching my Mother Confessor......."

great misunderstandings happened before richard left the world of the living and walked into the temple of the wind... it was established previously that richard's power made him recognize kahlan from a distance and even before he saw her... in the dark before having to have to make love to her, he had already recognized her, he knew kahlan was beside him...
kahlan had no such power, and in the dark she just did not recognize richard, probably because she was nervous and upset and especially angry that she had just become the wife of drefan...

many times we've seen that richard loses his temper... in this he also lost his temper and became incapable of reasoning things out logically... hence he felt completely betrayed by kahlan who in essence had done nothing wrong since drefan was now her husband...

so in view of this i can see why richard needed to ask for kahlan's forgiveness... he loved her too much not to want to be forgiven by her...

I think that everyone can do the wrong thing (errare humanus est, perseverare diabolicus est)and the true power of human being is forgiven the mistakes of the other (to the besto of one's ability)expecially in the anger's moments

true... we all do wrong because no one is perfect... and yes the greatest power is to forgive... but maybe richard went overboard with the forgiveness thing vs. his well being...

sorry, i'm not sure what you are trying to say...

... but maybe sometimes richard should have been a little selfish. after all isn't that what objectivists preach? selfishness is not bad it is good?

Oh i'm sorry I understand my english isn't very good.
Now I try to explain it better....to reach kahlan's forgiveness he accepted to contract the plague and to die, in similar occasions I think I won't have his same thoughts

ok i understand... richard's need for kahlan's forgiveness was greater than him living... and i suppose you would not have chosen such a route...

you are 16 and i'm sure that you might have been in love and have had girlfriends... but you have not experienced true and everlasting love... so, you cannot say you would not react in the same way that richard did...

I agree with you (of course you have more exp than me) I'm searching girlfriend at the moment but I've never been truly fallen in love with someone and as you said I cannot write how I react at the same decision of Richard. I hope I'll find someone for who I'll sacrifice (more than the two people most important in my life: my relatives) my life with pleasure

still... [SM=g27997] knowing that he was so important for the salvation of the new world why in the blasing world would richard except death just so he can ask for kahlan's forgiveness? don't you think him a bit selfish?

so you think richard did right by coming back to die instead of thinking of the people of the new world falling into the hands of the order?

As Goodkind write in the book the price was the worst he has ever had to pay but I think that if he didn't accepted to pay the price he won't be able to come back to the life's world and the battle will be loose too
